Well, how easy is that going to be?
Pretty much burned out of their existing site in Seattle. Bellingham too far north. Astoria south and quick ocean access.
Tongue Point a hard sell?
Don't think so with readily accessible , 1000 foot piers, plenty of hard surface and quickly adaptible buildings.
I say Astoria should be prime candidate.

Already Tongue Point Is being taken out of the hands of our Port and put into the hands of CEDR and CCBofC for $35.000 to pimp and meddle with it?
How does that work?

Shows that you are an idiot.
BURNED out of their present spot? Two piers were burned and they are being repaired right now and will be finished BEFORE NOAA's lease is over! You are delusional.
In Seattle, surrounded by shipyards and every sort of technology, including the broadband cable that will not be able to reach them if they moved to Tongue Point, due to the FACT that cable cannot cross the OPR land that is around Tongue Point with the defeat of 4-131.
NOAA looks at the INFRASTRUCTURE of community. Clatsop County does NOT have an efficient energy transmission infrastructure. Both Seattle and Bellingham DO have one. At TP the NOAA fleet not only would be without broadband they would have to plan to be without power at least two or three times each winter.
Here Clatsop County is GIVING the port $35,000 to promote Tongue Point and YOU find fault with that! You are the most hatingest man ever.

NOAA'a long standing presence in The Sound isn't threatened as there is no chance in hell will they relocate at the Columbia River. That big fat bloated bureacratic mega-over-budgeted down the rathole agency is too entrenched up there in the economics considering the academic, tech supply/support and research industries which have grown up around them as well as modern fleet multi-level maintainence facilities with the right personel. It's a multigenerational professional community sucking a righteously bodacious federal tit and a "NOAA" probably wouldn't function two hours without them. So, setting them up at some decrepit abandoned 200 mile away WWII era facility that has not seen upgrade nor repair in over half of a century and letting them get what they need at Freddy's, Costco & Englund's ought to be real appealing to them. Oh, and "Being closer to the ocean" dont mean squat. They spend way more time tied at the dock than they do sailing around probably scaring the crap out of themselves. If you could sell them Tongue Point, then you could also sell them the Tillamook Airport and move NASA in there.

Uh=Oh, we got a "Native" here. Do you have some arcane or obscure point for making such an idiotic comment or is just being an idiot enough of a motivation to get you to start chirping?

We got a native here alright and a intellectual one at that, attempting to emit a bit of that "Mensa Level" wit and non-humor mixed with that adenoidal inflection, so identifyingly cherished by some. Watchit! The "go back to wherever you came from BS" will be injected any second now. Clowns!!!

writing on quite a few forums that Astoria is the "obvious" choice yet you aren't saying anything. Why would Astoria be better than Seattle? What does Astoria HAVE that Seattle doesn't? Seattle has access to the Pacific. Seattle has Universities. Seattle has shipyards and technology. You mock the Port, BOCC and CEDR for acknowledging that Astoria is going to be a tough sell that needs professionals to help us so that we have the best chance.
You're the idiot here, not the local governments that are cooperating and working together to try to get this done. Purhasong TP might not be such a good investment but if the port doesnt do it jackasses like you and Floyd will pitch a political fit.

You are incapable of staying on topic because you are obviously incapable of defending your opinion. You're nothing but a troll.
